Track Day Checklist For A Cleaner Weekend

Arrive ready to drive safer and cleaner. Use this checklist the night before. Time laps only when the day allows it, then debrief with your crew.

Night before

Confirm run groups, helmet, and tech requirements. Charge the phone, pack a mount, and install LapsHub if you have not already.

Invite your crew in the app and check that the track appears in the catalog. Ask the organizer whether the day allows timing.

Safety basics

Your organizer briefing is the source of truth. This list is a reminder, not a substitute for tech or classroom.

  • Pass tech: fluids, tires, battery, loose items out of the cabin.
  • Helmet and gear match the event rules.
  • Know the flags, cool-down lap, and where to exit if something feels wrong.
  • Hydrate, eat, and leave ego in the paddock.
  • Mount the phone securely so it cannot become a projectile.

If this is HPDE or non-timed

Many HPDE and club days are not timed events. Treat them that way unless the organizer says otherwise.

  • Confirm timing rules before you roll. If clocks are not allowed, do not chase splits or Time to Beat.
  • Enable HPDE mode in LapsHub so lap times stay off the Drive screen while GPS can still record for later review.
  • Do not push for a personal best. Enjoy the drive.
  • Focus on line, eyes up, and smooth inputs.
  • Leave space, follow point-bys, and stay in your run group.

Morning of

Tech inspection, tire pressures, fluids, and a clear phone mount. Start LapsHub before you roll if you are logging the session.

If the day is non-timed HPDE, enable HPDE mode when required. If timing is allowed, still drive within your skill and the group around you.

After you park

Review compare, coaching notes, or session history while the run is fresh. On non-timed days, use that review to learn the line, not to brag about a clock.

Share what matters with your crew instead of hunting through camera rolls.

FAQ

What should I install before a track day?

Download LapsHub free, sign in, sync tracks, and test a short session at home so permissions and mounts are sorted before the paddock.

Do I need RaceBox on day one?

No. Phone GPS is enough to start. Add RaceBox when you want higher-rate GPS.

Can I time an HPDE day?

Only if the organizer allows it. If the day is non-timed, enable HPDE mode, do not chase a clock on track, and review the session after you park.
