The South Course is the longer of Autobahn Country Club's two independent loops, opened in 2004 as part of Alan Wilson's Joliet design. Run alone or linked with the North Course, it forms the back half of the 3.56-mile full configuration.
At 2.06 miles with 15 turns, the South layout carries the highest average speeds at Autobahn, roughly 79 mph in race trim, with nine right-handers and six left-handers across a 40-foot-wide surface. The main straight stretches about 1,850 feet, long enough for drafting and late braking on HPDE weekends.
The South Course is a popular choice for club racing and track-day groups that want a fast, flowing lap without committing to the full 3.56-mile circuit. When the North Course is running a separate event, the South loop can still be open for members and renters.
