The North Course is one of two primary loops at Autobahn Country Club, the Joliet motorsports country club that opened in 2004. Designed by Alan Wilson, it can be run on its own or connected to the South Course to form the 3.56-mile full circuit.
At 1.5 miles with 9 turns, the North layout is Autobahn's most compact configuration. It emphasizes braking, rotation, and exit speed over outright horsepower, a useful place to work on car control before stepping up to the longer South or Full layouts.
Because the North and South courses are independent, Autobahn can run both simultaneously on the same day, a flexibility that keeps member track time available even when the facility hosts outside events on one loop.
Notable features
- Nine-turn rhythm: A short lap with little downtime, mistakes compound quickly and traffic management matters on busy HPDE days.
- Technical focus: Tighter than the South Course, with fewer long straights and more emphasis on precision and trail braking.
- Gateway to the full course: Most drivers learn the North loop before linking it with the South Course for the full 3.56-mile configuration.
- Clockwise only: Like every Autobahn layout, the North Course runs clockwise, consistent with the South and Full circuits.
- Club atmosphere: A private facility southwest of Chicago, with member events, manufacturer days, and regional club racing throughout the season.
